In 1929, Reverend Harold Edwardson established a soup kitchen in Edmonton’s inner-city, serving meals to hundreds of people struggling with unemployment and homelessness at the onset of the depression. Today, Hope Mission has grown into a not-for-profit Christian social care agency serving men, women, and children in Alberta. Basic and emergency care are provided to over 800 people daily as well as counselling and referral services for men, women, and youth. Each day, Hope Mission provides over 1000 meals, and shelter for over 500 people.
Join Hope Mission and thousands of Canadians as we walk 2, 5 or 10km in our respective cities on February 25, 2017, in order to generate awareness of what its like to be homeless in the dead of winter. February is a cold and challenging month for the people we serve, and its also one of the quietest months for financial support. Our goal is to raise $80,000 in support of Hope Mission's work with the hungry, homeless and hurting in our city.
Help us help those in need and join us for a walk on February 25!
After finishing your walk wearing one of our famous Coldest Night of the Year toques, you'll enjoy a free hot celebration meal and, most importantly, you'll feel good about helping disadvantaged people in your community.
