The Coldest Night of the Year is a winterrific family-friendly fundraising walk in support of local charities serving people experiencing hurt, hunger, and homelessness... because it’s cold out there. Join us on February 28, 2026 - across the country, close to home!
At Nelson CARES, we reach out to support the most vulnerable people in the community. One of our goals is the preservation, maintenance, and development of affordable housing in Nelson, British Columbia. Through the Coldest Night of the Year, we were able to refurbish our downtown affordable housing building, Ward Street Place. CNOY funding has also helped us to support individuals within this building.
Our Ready For Home program provides supports to homeless individuals ready for housing, individuals newly housed and those at risk of losing their housing. At the core of Ready For Home is a paid staff member who works one-on-one with individuals to find housing, to transition into affordable housing and to sustain them in their existing accommodation.
Join us on Saturday, February 28th, 2026 for the Coldest Night of the Year to walk and fundraise with us as we raise vital support for those most vulnerable right here in our community. Together, we can make a meaningful, positive impact!
